Employee Accused Of Stealing Items From Kmart In Westchester

An employee at a Kmart in Northern Westchester has been charged with larceny after police say she stole from the store multiple times.

Yorktown Police say they responded to Kmart (355 Downing Drive in Yorktown) on a report of a larceny on Wednesday, Aug. 21 around 2:45 p.m.

Further investigation revealed that Octavia Sobers, 52, of Mount Vernon, stole items from the store on Monday, July 29, Monday, Aug. 5 and Sunday, Aug. 18, police say.

Sobers was arrested, transported to Yorktown Police Department and charged with petit larceny, a Class A misdemeanor.

Sobers was released on her own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday, Sept. 24.
